Wire Fountain

Materials Tools
6"-8" 1/4" wire
PVC Ring
Wire cutter or knife
E-6000™ glue

You'll need a multi-strand wire for this project. If you get a wire that is used for grounding, each individual wire will not have insulation and that makes the project easier.

Strip the outer covering off all but two inches of the wire. Remove the insulation from each individual wire if necessary or desired.

Bend the wires in a smooth arc. If needed, you can use a bottle to bend wires around to get them consistent.

Glue a PVC ring to the base of the wire.

Another idea is to take a longer piece (12" or more) of 1/8" wire (1/4" wire is too stiff to bend in the curves). Take a piece of 1/2" dowel rod and spiral wrap the bottom 6" of the wire around it forming the ring. Then form the fountain as instructed above.

Materials Tools
Several wires 4" each
PVC Ring
Wire cutter
E-6000™ glue
Tape

Electrical or duct tape about 1/2" to 1" wide works best.

If you really feel ambitious, instead of using tape to hold the wires together, whip the end with 12" of string or artificial sinew.

  1. Take several pieces of colored thin wire and 3" to 4" long. You can use them either with or without insulation.
  2. Form a bundle and make the ends even by tapping on a flat surface.
  3. Wrap the tape around this end tightly.
  4. Glue a PVC ring to the tape.
  5. Bend the ends of the wire into a curve to look like a fountain. Keep the wires in front of the PVC ring so it is easier to put on.

Another variation is to use wire 8" or longer. Construct as above. Then twist the ends of the wires around a pencil, dowel rod, or Popsicle stick to form curls. Make the curls tight or loose, long or short.
