Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do you learn from scouting?

A: You learn how to tie knots, survive in the wilderness, build fires, shoot shotguns, and advance to Eagle.

Q: What exactly is Eagle anyway?

A: Eagle is the highest rank in boy scouts. To receive Eagle is a great deal for you because you have earned it by working hard and started from the ground to the top. Being an Eagle Scout is a great honor to achieve. If you become an Eagle Scout, then it shows that you are able to aim for a goal and go for it all the way.

Q: What do you do at scout meetings?

A: We talk about upcoming events and work on merit badges. Sometimes a guest speaker will come and talk to us about what he or she knows most about. It could be about fishing, shooting, rafting, canoeing, swimming, first aid, horseback riding, or even space. We also plan for campouts and what to eat during the camp. Our troop has lots of fun, while working Scout skills and getting advancements, which is getting a higher rank towards Eagle.

Q: How old do you have to be to be a Boy Scout?

A: You have to be from the 5th grade to 18 years old. If you want to stay and participate, then you are able to.

Q: Do you have to be Catholic?

A: No, you don't. Many boys are other religions including Baptists, Islamic, or Buddhist. It doesn't matter what you believe in. But for Scout Sunday, you can attend a Catholic Church if you'd like to. Or, you can go to your church in full Class A uniform, as long as you tell your Scout leader.
