Troop 865's Philmont Plans
Each year Circle Ten Council sells trips to Philmont for the next years summer. This is done at a meeting around the first week in April.

The trips are $460 (this year) which includes bus transportation and the camp fees, ... Troops are drawn at random from all the Troops present at the meeting the first week in April. In 2000 about 50 troops tried to get 16 treks.

There are 3 crews of twelve and 1 crew of eleven or 47 people (which equals the number of seats on the bus). You must pay $50 for all 11 or 12 slots at the April meeting if you are chosen to go.

They require 2 to 4 adults. 18-21 year olds are considered youth. The crew chief must be a youth.

If you don't have enough people to fill the 11 or 12 slots, people from other troops may fill in. It is your responsibility to fill them in (remember you have already paid for the slots).

Philmont takes reservations in the fall. It involves trying to reach them by phone. Troops must provide their own transportation.
