Every major religion has a saying that conveys this meaning.
You may have also heard it stated as: An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
Notice that it doesn't say how other people should treat you. It only says that YOU should treat other people the way you would expect them to treat you.
But you know it doesn't need to say how others should behave. That's because behavior is contagious. If you treat others well, they will learn from you and treat you well.
As St. Francis of Assisi said, "For it is in giving that we receive."
